

The Centre for Stem Cell Research has been created to bring together outstanding principal investigators to undertake ground-breaking research into the biological properties and biomedical potential of stem cells.
The Wellcome Trust/Medical Research Council four year PhD is a flagship scheme aimed at supporting the highest quality students to undertake specialist training and research in stem cell biology. The first year combines taught courses with laboratory rotations to broaden students’ theoretical and technical knowledge in stem cell biology. Students then embark upon a three year PhD project. Applications are welcome from candidates from a broad range of disciplines, including medical, biological, physical and computational sciences.
Support includes a generous living allowance for four years, UK/EU student PhD registration fees, research expenses, personal development training funds and a contribution towards travel expenses. Non EU applicants will be required to obtain additional funding to cover the overseas component of the registration fees. Applicants should have, or expect to obtain, a 1st or 2:1 degree or equivalent.
