UCL is one of the world's premier universities, consistently ranked in the global top 10. It is a world-class research and teaching institution.
At the UCL Energy Institute (UCL-Energy) students work alongside our experienced researchers, in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment.

"
Anyone with a serious interest in international energy issues can tell you that problems such as energy security, climate change mitigation, and global poverty are hugely complex and interlinked.
Research at the UCL Energy Institute aims to address these challenges by cutting across boundaries imposed by traditional "silo thinking" and bringing together people from diverse backgrounds such as the social sciences, physics, economics, public policy, systems thinking, engineering, planning, and architecture.
My decision to undertake doctoral research at the Institute was motivated not only by a desire to be at the cutting edge of my own field, but also to be close to some of the best minds academia has to offer and the source of so much groundbreaking multi-disciplinary work. I have yet to be disappointed."
Francis Li, Doctoral Researcher, UCL-Energy
UCL-Energy is developing a Doctoral Training Programme of over 100 doctoral researchers to support the complex and multidisciplinary research objectives of the Institute. Our students are core to the activities of UCL-Energy both in terms of the contribution to research already underway and building future research capacity.

The Doctoral Training Programme includes the
London - Loughborough Centre for Doctoral Research in Energy Demand, which is the premier centre for energy demand research in the built environment in the UK.
The Centre brings together two leading energy research universities,
UCL and
Loughborough University, who together have the expertise to equip graduates with the knowledge and skills to take on senior roles in academia, industry, commerce and policy formulation. It also links two regions with vibrant and expanding activity in the energy and built environment arena.
At UCL-Energy we are developing different research themes, which while independent areas also interact, resulting in innovative approaches to energy-related problems. These themes are Buildings, Energy Systems, People & Energy, Policy & Law and Transport.
