The UK Doctoral Training Centre in Energy Demand Reduction and the Built Environment

The UK Doctoral Training Centre in Energy Demand Reduction and the Built Environment will produce the next generation of highly skilled and broadly educated energy researchers to lead and support the complex, multidisciplinary task of driving down energy demand and CO2 emissions of the UK building stock. It is the premier Centre for such leadership training in the UK.
The Centre is a collaboration between two of the leading energy research Universities in the UK:
University College London (UCL) and
Loughborough University. Both have invested heavily in energy research. They lead some of the most important energy demand research initiatives in the UK.
The Centre offers both fees and enhanced bursaries to graduates from engineering, science and related disciplines (please refer to the
DTC website for eligibility criteria). It aims to accept four students for the 2009/10 academic year, six for 2010/11 and then ten for the 2011/12, 2012/13 and 2013/14 intakes. The training lasts four years comprising a master's course followed by a PhD over three years. Both are interspersed with seminars, field trips and an annual colloquium. At its peak the Centre will have over 70 registered students studying for either a master's or PhD degree.
