Our student community is close-knit, diverse, and deeply engaged in the academic and cultural life of London. As a postgraduate-only institution in the heart of Bloomsbury, our campus offers an intellectually rich and supportive environment tailored to advanced study and research in the humanities.

Students are welcomed into a collaborative academic culture shaped by the School’s eight specialist institutes. Regular interdisciplinary seminars, reading groups, conferences, and public lectures provide opportunities to exchange ideas and build connections across disciplines. The SASiety - our student-led society - fosters a vibrant social scene, organising film nights, day trips, pub quizzes, and wellbeing activities that bring students together from across the School.

Located within Senate House, SAS places students at the heart of the University of London’s historic central campus. You’ll be steps away from the British Museum, British Library, and cultural hubs like Soho, Fitzrovia and Covent Garden - ideal for both study and leisure.

Beyond campus, the city becomes your extended classroom. Students take advantage of London’s archives, galleries, festivals, and global networks. Whether attending a live theatre performance, visiting a niche exhibition, or researching in a specialist collection, living and studying in London enhances every aspect of the postgraduate experience.

The result is a student experience that is rigorous, welcoming, and uniquely connected to one of the most intellectually stimulating cities in the world.
