Our areas of research study are aligned to our academic schools and combine expertise with excellent facilities:

  • School of Arts, Media and Creative Technology – home to world-class performance and exhibition spaces, and digital and creative media facilities, research includes art and design, English, music, politics and contemporary history.
  • Salford Business School – our research has an emphasis on business change, entrepreneurial thinking, FinTech, ethical and sustainable working and digital transformation.
  • School of Health and Society – with facilities including a Simulation Suite, a Centre for Medical Imaging, and Movement Labs for motion analysis; our research covers nursing, allied health professions, sport, psychology, social sciences and criminology.
  • School of Science, Engineering and Environment – our research is structured into three overarching areas: Computer Science and Engineering, Human and Natural Sciences, and Sustainable Built and Natural Environments. Researchers can take advantage of world-leading facilities such as the Energy House performance labs and the North of England Robotics Innovation Centre.
