Fuse, Six PhD Studentships in Public Health Research

Six PhD studentships in public health research

Fuse, UKCRC Centre for Translational Research in Public Health, seeks outstanding candidates for six four year (1+3) PhD Studentships commencing September 2014. Each studentship will be aligned with one of Fuse’s six research programmes and will provide excellent training and experience in a vibrant postgraduate research environment. Students will be based at one of the Centre’s five partner universities and have supervisory input from another north east university.

Details of the six studentships are outlined below and further details of each are available here. Candidates will be expected to outline their vision for the studentship research in their application and at interview, and will develop detailed protocols for the research if appointed. Candidates may apply for more than one studentship, but must demonstrate their suitability for each studentship in their application.

An assessment panel will be held on 19th-20th May 2014, at which the six studentships will be awarded to the most outstanding candidates. To remain eligible, candidates must be available on these dates. Short-listed candidates will be informed on or after 13th May 2014.

The studentships are supported by Fuse’s funding partners (BHF, CRUK, ESRC, MRC and NIHR) and will be awarded and managed under MRC studentship regulations and paid at MRC rates. Guidance on Residence eligibility can be found here.

Studentships must commence in September 2014 (dates vary depending on induction programmes for masters courses at each host university). Applicants already holding a suitable MSc qualification may be exempt from the first (MSc) year.

Further details of proposed studentships and details of how to apply are available at: www.fuse.ac.uk/people/vacancies.

Closing date for applications is 5.00pm on Friday 9th May and interviews will be held on 19th and 20th May 2014.
