University of Birmingham School of Chemistry: 20 PhD studentships

School of Chemistry: 20 PhD studentships

The School of Chemistry at the University of Birmingham is looking to recruit high-quality UK/EU-national PhD students to start in October 2018. There is also the possibility of studentship positions starting immediately for outstanding candidates.

Scholarships are available to fund students with a minimum of a good (>65%) upper second-class or higher integrated masters (MSci/MChem) UK degree, or equivalent EU qualification in Chemistry or a related subject. These awards cover University fees and provide 36 months’ maintenance at standard RCUK rates (currently £14,777). Students with a combination of a good BSc degree followed by an MSc with >60% in all taught elements will also qualify. Students who hold a first class BSc degree may be considered in selected cases. Projects are available in all four of the School’s research units, specifically Biomolecular, Supramolecular and Nanoscale Chemistry, Molecular Synthesis and Catalysis, Physical and Theoretical Chemistry and Solid State Chemistry.

There is also the possibility of PhD positions with a further year of funding, where students also make a significant contribution to undergraduate teaching in the School, leading to an additional teaching qualification.
