The Development and Mainstreaming Programme - 4 Year Duration

The UNESCO Child and Family Research Centre at NUI Galway are offering three funded postgraduate scholarships to full-time students of the Structured PhD in Child and Youth Research. The successful applicants will work as part of a team on a major new research and evaluation study, the “Development and Mainstreaming Programme” for Prevention, Partnership and Family Support (PPFS) being implemented by Tusla, Ireland’s Child and Family Agency.

Applications are invited for the September 2015 intake of the Structured PhD in Child and Youth Research. The programme is delivered as part of a joint initiative between the School of Psychology and the UNESCO Child and Family Research Centre, NUI Galway.

This is a full-time, four year or six year part-time programme, combining a thesis and taught modules.

The PhD programme aims:

  • To prepare programme participants to conduct high quality policy and practice-relevant research and programme evaluation with children and young people.
  • To develop programme participants’ knowledge and skills in key theoretical, methodological, policy and practice areas relating to children.
  • To provide graduates with a set of generic work-skills to facilitate their successful entry into the full range of employment settings
