These studentships are an excellent opportunity to start your career working with leading scientists, in one of Europe’s leading centres for research into food, health and the environment.

Our PhD Studentships are multidisciplinary, and you will become part of a community of 3,000 scientists across 5 world-class institutes, including one of the UK’s largest teaching and research hospitals and the University of East Anglia, a global top 1% university. Projects include opportunities for internships and a professional development programme.

The Norwich Biosciences Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) programme is supported by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) who recognise Norwich as a major centre for biosciences research in the UK.

Open to UK and EU nationals, the DTP studentships are for a maximum of 4 years and cover full tuition fees (Home/EU), and student stipend (£14,057 per annum) and a Research Training Support Grant (£5000 per annum).

IFR is a world leader in research into harnessing food for health and preventing food-related diseases. IFR science aims to meet the challenges of supplying safe, nutritious food that promotes healthy ageing now and in the future. IFR’s research is focused on the fundamental biological processes within the gut, including studies of the microbes that live there, on how nutrients affect our health, and on foodborne microbial pathogens.
