Here at Birmingham, we are very proud of the breadth and depth of the research undertaken in the College of Arts and Law and across the University, offering a wide range of specialsms, alongside access to the expertise across the six HEIs which make up Midlands3Cities.
Through the partnership, the University of Birmingham's 2014 AHRC-funded PhD students will have the opportunity to draw on the combined expertise of the Universities of Birmingham, Nottingham and Leicester, Birmingham City University, Nottingham Trent University and De Montfort University.
This doctoral scheme provides studentships which enable you to undertake and complete a doctoral degree. Studentships will normally be for up to three years for full-time study, or up to six years for part-time study.

Training and support
The University of Birmingham will offer support from both the University Graduate School and College of Arts and Law Graduate School, which includes:

- Workshops and events to contribute your personal development

- Employability skills training
This support will be available throughout your PhD, and beyond.
The University of Birmingham is also pleased to be working closely with local partner organisations to offer placements and collaborative research opportunities. These include the Library of Birmingham at Birmingham City Council and Birmingham Museums Trust.

The deadline for funding applications and references is Wednesday 14th January 2015, by which time you must also have applied for a place to study.
