One Medical Research Council (MRC) Studentship is available from October 2015 at the University of Leeds for students undertaking a PhD in Biomedical and Health Research. The programme funds studentships in key MRC priority research areas: Cancer; Cardiovascular Disease; Genetics of Disease; Health Bioinformatics; Infection & Immunity; Musculoskeletal Disease; Neuroscience & Neurodegeneration.

The project available this year can be found here. The project is interdisciplinary and will be supervised by researchers based in the Faculties of Biological Sciences, Environment, Medicine & Health and Mathematics & Physical Sciences.

To be considered for a PhD, you should hold a strong degree (equivalent to at least a UK upper second class honours degree) in a relevant area of biomedical science, or other discipline appropriate for the PhD project you are applying for. It is important that you indicate clearly which project(s) you are interested in undertaking for your PhD.

One Medical Research Council (MRC) Studentship is available from October 2015 at the University of Leeds for students undertaking a PhD in Biomedical and Health Research.

The studentship will cover the cost of tuition fees (UK/EU rate) and a maintenance grant (approximately £14,000 for session 2015/16). An allowance towards travel/training costs will also be available. The studentship will provide funding for 3.5 years subject to satisfactory progress during the research candidature. UK applicants will be eligible for a full award paying tuition fees and maintenance. European Union applicants will be eligible for an award paying tuition fees only, except in exceptional circumstances, or where residency has been established for more than 3 years prior to the start of the course.
