Profile Description
Kent Business School (KBS) welcomes research proposals, for September 2020 entry, in any of the following areas:
• Accounting
• Finance
• Management
• Management Science
• Marketing
• Operational Research
• Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Management

Entry criteria for KBS PhD programmes:

• Relevant 2:1 or First class honours degree
• Relevant Master's degree at Merit or Distinction
• Good standard of written and spoken English (IELTS score of 6.5 or above)
• High quality research proposal

The PhD Programme
Kent Business School's PhD community includes over 60 students, based at our Canterbury and Medway campuses. KBS provides each PhD student with a range of resources including research funding, a laptop and a dedicated hot-desk area. PhD students also have access to all the University's resources and facilities, including the Graduate School Researcher Development Programme.

Available Scholarships

South East Network for Social Sciences (SeNSS) PhD Studentships

A three-year studentship, which includes a maintenance grant of £15,009 per year (2019/20 rate), tuition fees at the Home/EU rate and access to further research funding.

Note: to be eligible for the full SeNSS studentship, applicants must meet residency criteria.

Scholarships are awarded to students who meet the following criteria and display excellent research potential:
• Degree at a first or 2:1 level from a UK academic research organisation. Degree qualifications gained from outside the UK, or a combination of qualifications and/or experience that is equivalent to a relevant UK degree, may be accepted.
• Score of 7.0 in IELT test (waived if an applicant is a national of a majority English-speaking country, or has completed a qualification equivalent to a UK Bachelor's degree in a majority English-speaking country)

Vice Chancellor's (VC) Research Scholarships
A three-year studentship, which includes Home/EU tuition fees, and a stipend of £15,009 per year (2019/20 rate).
Note: Overseas students will have to fund the difference between Home/EU and Overseas fees.

Kent Business School (KBS) International Research Scholarship
A three-year studentship, which includes overseas tuition fees, and a stipend of £15,009 per year (2019/20 rate),

VC and KBS International scholarships take the form of a Graduate Teaching Assistantship (GTA), whereby PhD students receive financial support (a combined salary and maintenance grant) in return for undertaking some part-time teaching.

Closing dates for Scholarship applications:
To be considered for a scholarship, candidates must have applied for a PhD at Kent Business School by the following dates:
• 19 January 2020 - VC Research Scholarships
• 20 January 2020 - SeNSS PhD Studentships
• 30 March 2020 - KBS International Research Scholarships
