Ms C Boswell, Mr J Counsell  No more applications being accepted  Funded PhD Project (European/UK Students Only)

About the Project

This is a unique opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary research team and community based housing association to develop innovative research on co-housing models and practice that has the potential to influence Welsh housing policy. Recent and increasing attention is being given to co-housing options for multi-generational community living, solutions for "stay-at-home" choices for older people and is consistently linked with sustainable and energy efficient housing development. A key part of the research will be to explore and understand the potential impact of both the financial and psychological / emotional impacts on different models of co-housing.

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated individual who is enthusiastic about bringing together theory and practice in order to carry out mixed methods research to investigate the international development of co-housing and alternative or intentional housing communities and their relevance and viability in a UK context. You will be working with a multidiscipinary team of academics and practitioners and you will require skills in both qualitative and quantitative research design and methods. This post is particularly suited to a postgraduate with a masters degree or a good honours degree in a relevant discipline.

More information, including an application form, can be found on the Cardiff Metropolitan University website which you can access via the "Apply online" tab above.

The studentship is for a three year full time PhD and will offer an annual stipend (currently £13,590) plus UK/EU fees. Applications are welcomed from students within the EU but higher fees for international students (ie those outside the EU) will not be met by the studentship.
