For our team of research staff, we are seeking a highly qualified and motivated young scientist willing to take a challenging project in computational materials science. The project will address computational modelling of Li electrolyte materials for lithium batteries. The 3 – year project will focus on understanding the defect chemistry and ionic transport on an atomistic level and trying to understand how these materials work will be of particular interest. Computational approaches will involve especially the application of classical and advanced molecular dynamics, density functional theory and free energy simulations. Furthermore, the research will be conducted in close collaboration with experimental groups both in the UK and in the EU.
The position offers:
• Research and development in the area of computer simulations of large solid – state systems using Huddersfield and STFC supercomputing facilities as well the UK’s national supercomputing facility HECToR.
• The opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree in an international group.
• An exciting research environment at Huddersfield.
• A generous stipend for 3 years and a fee waiver scheme for first class applicants and all research and conference costs.
The ideal candidate will have:
