Professor Stefan Maier holds the Lee-Lucas Chair in Experimental Physics at Imperial College London. He has previously served as the Head of the Experimental Solid State Physics Group from 2016 to 2018 and as the Director of Postgraduate Studies for the department from 2014 to 2018. His research group is involved in a diverse range of fundamental and applied studies in nanoplasmonics, nanophotonics, and metamaterials. This includes investigating light/matter interactions at the nanoscale, developing highly efficient optical biosensors, creating light harvesting nanostructures for photovoltaics, and innovating new materials and devices for photonic nanotechnology.
Professor Maier''s research focuses on nanoplasmonics, nanophotonics, and metamaterials. His group conducts fundamental and applied research aimed at understanding light/matter interactions on the nanoscale. Key areas of interest include the development of highly efficient optical biosensors, light harvesting nanostructures for photovoltaics, and the creation of new materials and devices for photonic nanotechnology. His work encompasses various fields such as optical physics, electrical and electronic engineering, quantum physics, materials engineering, communications technologies, and nanotechnology.
