Prof J F Watts  No more applications being accepted  Funded PhD Project (European/UK Students Only)

About the Project

The aim of this project is to increase the understanding of the role of different types of inclusions in the initiation / incubation stage of pitting corrosion on beryllium. A preliminary model has been developed which requires validation and extension to be able to predict the performance of commercial grades of beryllium under a wide range of environmental conditions.

Whilst at AWE the student, or Research Engineer, will have the opportunity to work with materials not routinely studied elsewhere. This is a great opportunity to become a pioneer in this field with an opportunity to publish papers for which there are currently relatively few articles.

You will be based with the sponsor company AWE for 75% of your time.

Funding Notes

Overseas students are not eligible to apply due to the funding partner's eligibility criteria and also due to UK Border Agency regulations
