Funded PhD Project (Students Worldwide)
About the Project
Applications are invited for a PhD studentship on a 3-year PhD programme in poultry nutrition. The programme is fully funded by Danisco Animal Nutrition and Harper Adams University College. The project is aiming to investigate the feeding quality of wheat-distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) for laying hens, and to determine its effect on egg production, egg quality parameters and gut health. Interaction with exogenous enzymes will also be studied in the project. The project will be jointly supervised by Harper Adams University College and Danisco Animal Nutrition. The student will be based at the University College, working at the newly built poultry facility and the state-of-the-art laboratory. This PhD programme will train a future generation of poultry nutritionists who will successfully be able to combine experimental and theoretical techniques in their research.
The studentship will commence on 1 October 2012 and includes tuition fees, consumables and conference allowance and a maintenance grant of £13,500 in Year 1, rising to £14,000 in Year 2 and then £14,500 in Year 3, dependent on satisfactory progress.
