About the Project

The area of research is within the sphere of contaminated land assessment and focuses specifically on the development of new assessment methodologies for residential properties that may be located on contaminated land. Such properties are at risk of determination by the Local Authority under Part 2A of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, and hence are particularly contentious as the property owner may be liable for remediation costs. This project is highly relevant to today's property industry and offers great opportunity for involvement in an area of concern to many stakeholders, including Local Authorities, property developers, surveyors and solicitors, and there is a solid commercial basis for the project.
