About the Project

Applications are invited from UK or EU students for a full-time DPhil (PhD) to work in the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neuroscience, University of Oxford on the project ‘Mechanisms underlying abnormal sleep/circadian rhythms in psychosis’, supervised by Dr Katharina Wulff. Applicants should have completed a degree in a relevant subject in biological sciences by 1st October 2013 with a minimum equivalent of 2:1. This project is funded for 3 years, from 1st October 2013, and includes a stipend with college and university fees paid.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop an understanding of mechanisms underlying sleep/circadian rhythm disruption in psychosis by combining human studies with experimental studies in animal models. The research of the DPhil will be within the newly established ‘Sleep and Circadian Neuroscience Institute (SCNi)’ funded by a strategic grant and led by Professor Russell Foster.

Applicants with a background or an interest in sleep, circadian biology and disorders of the brain are welcome to apply. The ideal candidate for this post will be dependable and highly enthusiastic with a flexible working and proactive ethos. Good IT skills, communication skills and interpersonal skills are a must. This would be an ideal opportunity for a dedicated researcher to join a multidisciplinary team working in a state of the art research centre within a world renowned university.
