About the Project

The topics will be focused on Natural Language Understanding (NLU). It will include some of the main aspects of NLU such as syntactic analysis of natural language, speech recognition, semantic analysis and its logic processing. The background of this research are modern application for natural language-based human-computer interfaces for technical devices such as smart phones, robots, cars, computers, etc. These intelligent devices have to communicate in the most natural and smart way with its human counterpart. Further, Natural Language Understanding is a key aspect of system to process natural language in a deep way to access the valuable information contained in texts and enable systems to process or even act due to this information.

To study the mechanisms underlying Natural Language Understanding and to develop system capable to understand language, we use machine learning techniques to develop and optimized such systems. The method is usually driven by experiment in order to improve upon state, to access its quality and optimize systems further.

We search a enthusiastic candidate with interested in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and computational linguistic. The PhD candidate should have a degree in Computer Science, Computation Linguistics, or Mathematics. Prior experience in Computational Linguistic, Machine Learning or AI would be an advantage. Starting dates are flexible. For further information, please see:
