About the Project

PROJECT
This project would focus on interaction with immersive and large-scale visualisation systems. The aim is to enhance the efficiency of high-value manufacturing (e.g. in the vehicle industry) by improving the utility of visualisation to solve real engineering problems.

Requirements and application
This studentship will be supervised by Prof Anthony Steed
http://www0.cs.ucl.ac.uk/staff/a.steed/

Applicants should possess a strong bachelor’s degree (1st Class or 2:1 minimum) in computer science or a related discipline. A master’s degree providing relevant research experience is highly desirable.

The role would be suited to someone who wanted to work with state-of-the-art visualisation techniques and systems, and explore how the next generation of image generators and displays can help engineers and scientists use 3D models.

Informal enquiries on the project can be made to Prof Anthony Steed [Email Address Removed], or to Dr Jamie O'Brien, [Email Address Removed].

To be considered, you must fill in the general UCL application form:

http://www.prism.ucl.ac.uk/pgadmissions/register

where you can download the forms and guidelines. Make sure you specify Supervisor (Prof Anthony Steed), and PhD on the “Research Study Options”.

Funding Notes

This project is co-funded by industry and the EPSRC through a CASE Award. This post is open to UK/EU candidates who satisfy EPSRC’s UK residency rules. The successful candidate will receive a tax-free stipend to cover living expenses (value tbc), plus support for travel and research expenses.
