About the Project

A PhD scholarship is available in the School of Public Health to work with the Health and Ageing Research Team on a funded project. This will involve collecting and analysing early life health and socioeconomic data from participants in the Health, Work and Retirement Study to understand how early life events produce disparities in health.

Advantages of this project: This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and organised student to study in an internationally regarded research team with links to international longitudinal studies of ageing. You will work in a supportive multidisciplinary team of leading researchers in Public Health, Psychology, Gerontology, and Human Geography.

Eligibility: The scholarship is to support an academically excellent student undertaking full-time doctoral studies at Massey University. Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree with appropriate Honours or Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Sciences, Psychology, Sociology or related fields. The student will require excellent quantitative data analysis skills. To be eligible, students must fulfil all conditions for admission to the Massey University Doctoral Programme. Applicants will require a grade point average of 7.0 or better (on a 9 point scale). This is above an average grade of A-.

 Ability to conduct research within an interdisciplinary team environment
 Strong initiative, interest and enthusiasm
 Good time management and organisational skills
 Excellent communication skills

Status and application process: This project is available for an immediate start. Applications close on 21 March 2015, and the PhD student should be enrolled at Massey University by 1 October 2015. Funding Notes
