Dr I Sayers  Applications accepted all year round

About the Project

Applications are invited from Home/EU students with a 2.1 UK degree or equivalent in molecular biology or biochemistry (or related disciplines including biomedical science/genetics) for a studentship funded by the University of Nottingham. The studentship aims to further define recently identified genetic loci associated with lung function and/or respiratory disease in genome-wide association studies. The project includes the use of molecular genetics to further characterise genes/loci and primary airway cell models to begin to investigate gene function. This studentship will be supervised jointly by Dr Ian Sayers and Professor Ian Hall.

Based in the Division of Respiratory Medicine, the student will join a vibrant, multidisciplinary team focused on furthering our understanding of the molecular basis of airway disease.

The successful student will be registered for a PhD; the studentship is available for a period of three years and provides an estimated postgraduate stipend of £14,210 in year 1 (based on 2015-2016 academic year) with increments in line with Research Council Rates.

Informal Enquiries: should be addressed to Dr Ian Sayers, [Email Address Removed], telephone 0115 8231066.

Application Procedure: To apply, please access the postgraduate online application form, http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/pgstudy/apply/apply-online.aspx

Application Deadline: This studentship is open until filled, but early application is encouraged.
