Competition Funded PhD Project (Students Worldwide)
About the Project
We have recently developed a technique which we think will have advances in the development of biofuels from micro-algae. This advance would be enhanced by the dedicated attention of a PhD student. The experimental side of the research has great application and the theoretical side of the research is also of great interest and power:- focussing on the evolutionary genetics of adaptation and trade-offs. The interested student could come at the project from either direction - but hopefully both.
Interested candidates should have a background in evolutionary biology, behavioural ecology or genetics/molecular biology/genetics, and should preferably have experience of using sterile techniques to culture cells. Please contact me for further information.
The main limitation is your competitive ability in UWA’s screening process. Competitive applicants in previous UWA rounds have had first class HONOURS degrees and often masters degrees from top Universities and frequently publications. If you are interested in the opportunity to be a fully funded student under our supervision please contact us to discuss the possibilities. The higher the world ranking of your university the fewer publications/other degrees might be needed to be competitive - so please ask. Students with 3 years UK Honours degrees can apply even though the web prerequisite is for 4 years of tertiary study.
Deadline: There are two deadlines a year for international students and two for domestic students. Please check the UWA Scholarship;s website for the latest closing dates. I will assess applications and interview over skype to select applicants to go forward to compete in the latest round. The current round closes on the 31st of OCTOBER 2018; please (Hurry and) contact me well before this date.
