About the Project

At LSBU our applied research tackles real-world issues. We are the top modern university in London for world-leading and internationally excellent research in General Engineering (REF 2014) with 80% of this research awarded the highest quality ratings of 4* or 3* for its ’impact’ (reach and significance).

The purpose of the research project is to develop a small Internal Combustion (IC) engine that can operate efficiently using compression-ignition fuels. The engine is to combine a number of technologies which have not previously been exploited in this application.

The project will involve 1D and 3D Computational Fluids Dynamics (CFD) simulation, Design (solid modelling, drafting), Instrumentation and Experimental Testing. You will focus on two or more areas of interest.

Candidates should normally hold a good degree in Engineering or Science related discipline, a keen interest in IC engines, and a willingness to engage with the Industry collaborator working to achieve project deliverables.

Interviews for short-listed applicants will be held on Friday 2nd October 2015.

Further information, informal enquiries and details of the application process may be made to Dr Mark Ellis, email: [Email Address Removed] or telephone: +44 (0)20 7815 7189.
Applications must be submitted by email or posted to Dr Mark Ellis, Senior Lecturer Mechanical Engineering, London South Bank University, 103 Borough Road, London, SE1 0AA.
