About the Project

The vision of the Virtual Environment and Future Media Research Centre is to be a centre of excellence, unique in Europe with the ability to meet diverse application needs through a range of collaborative, intelligent, immersive, pervasive and augmented reality technologies and the deepest knowledge of how to protect them.

School of Science, Engineering and Environment

The School of Science, Engineering and Environment (SEE) is the largest school at the University of Salford. More than 250 postgraduate researchers (PGRs) study with us. We offer full and part-time PhD programmes as well as split-site and distance learning ones. Our innovative MPhil programme is designed to transition students from the guided module-structure towards independent learning and researching and our MSc by Research students are supported acquiring the skills needed for a successful transition towards further research or into a workplace of their choosing.

About the School of Science, Engineering and Environment

At the School of Science, Engineering and Environment (SEE), University of Salford more than 250 postgraduate researchers (PGRs) and 200 academics conduct research that was rated in the Research Excellent Framework (REF) 2021 as “world-leading, internationally excellent” (78%) and as producing “outstanding innovative impact” (88%). PGRs work with their supervisors on ground breaking research at our world-leading research facilities. They collaborate on research projects, speak at conferences including our International PGR conference (IPGRC) and publish their findings in established journals. Each PGR is supported in one of our ten subject-specific PGR research groups that are aligned with our research centres. These groups develop and integrate PGRs in the wider research community by organising events, trips, writing retreats, talks among other activities.
