About the Project

The new EPSRC CDT in “Materials for Demanding Environments” (M4DE) seeks to recruit motivated science & engineering graduates into an exciting, world-class research & training environment that will address complex industrial challenges. This PhD position is sponsored by BAE Systems and will research alternative materials for corrosion prevention. Aerospace corrosion prevention schemes are required to be robust compared other industries and typically expected to last for at least 25 years using proven materials and processes.

Commencing 15th September 2014, the CDT in M4DE offers a 4 year course that includes taught technical components & professional skills training, as well as a PhD level research project.

Funding Notes

UK nationals only with a 1st or 2:1 degree in the following – chemistry / chemical engineering / materials science.

Funding for this project covers tuition fees and an annual stipend of £17,000.
