About the Project

The School of Tourism is one of the world’s largest centres for broad interdisciplinary research in Tourism, Events, Hospitality, Leisure, Sport and Retailing. The School is seeking to award one or more Scholarships in early 2015 for full-time PhD study on Managing international and hallmark sporting events (including the Olympic Games) and festivals. The Scholarships will be awarded competitively and will comprise a fee waiver (i.e. no fee) and a contribution towards the research costs of undertaking the PhD.

Funding Notes

Eligibility criteria:
Candidates for a Dean’s Scholarship must demonstrate outstanding qualities and be motivated to complete a PhD in 3 years.

All candidates must satisfy the University’s minimum doctoral entry criteria for studentships of an honours degree at Upper Second Class (2.1) and/or an appropriate Masters degree. An IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 minimum (or equivalent) is essential for international students.

In addition to satisfying basic entry criteria, BU will look closely at the qualities, skills and background of each candidate and what they can bring to their chosen research project in order to ensure successful and timely completion.
