4 Year PhD Studentships - October 2024

Outstanding and motivated students are sought for highly prestigious 4 year PhD studentships available for research projects starting in October 2024. The studentships are funded by several sources including the EPA Research Fund, the CIU Trust, MRC, Clarendon Fund, and Colleges. They provide support for 4 years, paying full fees, an enhanced stipend of ~£21,122 per annum, and a research training & support grant of £5,300 pa. Students of all nationalities are eligible to apply.

Department

The Sir William Dunn School of Pathology is a dynamic department located in beautiful surroundings near the historic centre of Oxford. Famous for the development of penicillin and cephalosporin antibiotics, it has an outstanding track record in medical research.

The Department undertakes research in Cancer & Genome Stability, Cell Biology, Development & Stem Cells, Infection & Immunity, and RNA and Gene Expression.

Graduate Training

We take on about 16 graduate students each year for research towards a Doctor of Philosophy (DPhil) degree, which is the University of Oxford’s equivalent of a PhD.

We usually have over 60 graduate students in the Department at any one time, at least half of whom are from outside the UK. We are a spacious and well-funded Department, able to offer graduate students outstanding facilities. Students also benefit from its close proximity to the Colleges and the many research facilities in the University Science Area. We have a thriving Graduate Students’ Association.
