About the Programme

The Sheffield Institute for Interdisciplinary Biblical Studies (SIIBS)

SIIBS is a leading institute for the secular and multi-disciplinary academic study of the Bible and research into how the text influences Western culture. Our research has been ranked in the top three in the UK and is recognised for its breadth and diversity, spanning ancient and contemporary issues from biblical languages, politics and philosophy to forced migration, popular culture and gender studies.


Our academics work across the University and with partners from across the globe to ensure that our research is truly interdisciplinary and engages with real-world concerns. The Institute offers a unique, innovative and exciting approach to Interdisciplinary Biblical Studies providing a stimulating and supportive environment for a wealth of research opportunities.
