Prof Darren Cosker  Applications accepted all year round  Competition Funded PhD Project (Students Worldwide)

About the Project

We are interested in recruiting a PhD student to undertake research on dense image based motion capture using multi-4K synchronised camera systems. Using state of the art camera systems and optical motion capture (Vicon), the student will investigate the use of this technology for performance capture in entertainment (VFX/video game) based scenarios.

The University of Bath has a strong track record in industrial engagement, including projects with partners such as Double Negative and
The Imaginarium. It is envisaged that the student would have the opportunity to become engaged in industrial applications of their
research throughout the course of the PhD.

We are ideally looking for high-calibre candidates with interests in:
multi-view stereo capture, dense tracking and motion capture. Interests in retargeting and animation would also be useful. Prior experience in these areas is a plus, but we are willing to also speak to candidates with complementary skills. In either case, candidates should have
studied computer vision and/or graphics at at least undergraduate level, be confident mathematically and have strong programming skills.

First Supervisor: Dr Darren Cosker
Second Supervisor: Prof. Phil Willis
