Quote From Sudipta:
Hi all, I am a PhD student and going to submit my thesis within 2 months. I keenly wants to pursue Post doc after getting my PhD degree without wasting time. But I am really confused regarding the procedure of post doc application. My queries are given as below,
1. What is the perfect time to start application for Post doc? Should I wait until I submit my thesis then start applying?
2. When can I start applying for post doc scholarship?

Please anyone help me in this matter. I am really confused!

Start applying now I would think. As this thread is mainly used by people who have just graduated, you might want to post your question on a separate thread in the main forum. I think you will get more responses that way. Good luck with it all.

Had my viva in Sept 2014, got an R & R.
Finally submitted my r & r corrections in April 2016, passed with minor corrections in August 2016, did all my corrections in one months. Awarded Phd in English Studies in October 2016.

Attended my graduation in Scotland in June 2017. Woo-hoo !

I think this thread should solely focus on those who have graduated with a Phd or Masters. For others who wish to know about a particular postgrad programme, perhaps it is better for them to start a new thread. Just my humble opinion.

Waited a while to do this, but passed my viva in June 2017 with minor corrections, and was awarded my PhD in July 2017 :)

Is this a kind of anonymous Hall of Fame? Personally, I would like to read at least a few more details regarding your project and the contribution that was made to the Knowledge..What was your experience and what suggestions you would like to give to new comers

I actually finished my phd (media/international relations) in 2013 but I never came back here to post. I don't work in academia but I'm super happy I did it! Anyways all the best to everyone battling through.

Thanks Jamie, it is finally, finally all done (including final admin, upload of thesis and grad details stuff) barring the actual graduation ceremony-in August-the next round of graduation ceremonies. Many best wishes to you and hope you hear regarding corrections very soon. :). It does feel surreal and I keep forgetting that I've got it!
