Lets talk about funding!

Hi Gatto'

I'd definitely recommend keeping an eye out for loan plans in other parts of the UK.

Northern Ireland had announced plans before the English loans were confirmed and Scotland followed suit with its own proposals shortly after.

There's nothing on the table for Wales *yet* (so far as I know), but I'd be surprised if something isn't proposed / considered now we're into the New Year.

In the meantime, double check you definitely aren't eligible. If you're resident in England prior to beginning your Masters (and in the UK for three years) you could be. It's not yet clear what criteria is going to be used to judge this.

Hi, not sure if people are still looking at this thread but has anyone got any news about what happens for Welsh students?
I was very excited to hear that I could afford to do a Masters (in translation and interpreting) but realised that education is a devolved issue and I won't be eligible for a loan. I went to England to study for my undergraduate degree but that doesn't count apparently. Absolutely gutted... is anyone on the same boat as me?

Hello does anyone know if there is any funding for distance learning postgraduate degree?

User: NikkiW - 01 September 2015 11:12

Hi all,

Just to let you know that the FindAMasters and FindAPhD scholarships are now closed for 2015. Thank you for all your applications, we've had so many high-quality creative entries so the judges will have a very hard task choosing the winners!

Our scholarships will open again next year for students starting their postgraduate studies in autumn 2016, so stay tuned for more information on that closer to the time.

Thanks again to everyone who entered!

Does anyone have any experience of Masters scholarship applications which they can help postgrad25 with?

We also have a Masters scholarship for students who are starting their Masters study this autumn:http://www.findamasters.com/funding/postgraduate-masters-scholarships/
There's a top prize of £5,000 up for grabs, as well as some £500 runners up prizes, but the deadline is the 31st August, so if you want to enter, then now is the time!

Best of luck with your search for funding!

Hi, does anyone have any advice on completing scholarship applications, particularly competitive ones? I want to apply for a Master's study to Economics at Nottingham Trent Uni (Sept 2015) but I haven't completed an application like this in ages. The deadline's soon (7th August) so I need to be quick. Any tips from those who have secured Master's funding or similar would be appreciated. Cheershttp://www.ntu.ac.uk/nbs/courses/fees_and_funding/masters_scholarships/index.html

Hey Nikki, Excellent idea! It'd be a great help to know about funding schemes better.

Hi Kyle

29th May was the deadline for the end of an open consultation process, during which the government invited feedback on its loan proposals. There should be a report on the results of that consultation within the next week or two - we'll be keeping the information on FindAMasters.com updated:http://www.findamasters.com/funding/guides/new-uk-postgraduate-loans-scheme.aspx
Hope that helps a wee bit,

Mark

Hi,

I am looking to take advantage of this new scheme set out by the government to fund masters up to 10,000 in 2016 and i am pinning my hopes on this coming through. The last i heard was that it was to be reviewed on 29th May however i cannot find any latest updates on it. I am just wondering if you know anything about this

Many Thanks
Kyle

I think the biggest issue plaguing us all is funding - namely not enough! I'm encountering problems with funding, specifically that my uni has deep pockets only for the sciences. I've had moderate success with the blanket approach, essentially e-mailing everyone you can think of and asking for money. Yes it sounds crude, but when it comes down to it you need to do what you need to do to fund your research. Good luck!
