I posted a series of neurotic, anxious threads here a few weeks back. I was waiting for the examiners' reports and I was a complete and utter mess. Nobody could convince me (for more than five minutes) that I wasn't going to outright fail. I was so convinced of it, that I wrote out a whole plan-b for my life and saved it in a word document. I was certain I would fail my PhD, lose my tenure promise at work, and become destitute.

Well, a week ago, I received a very enthusiastic, early morning call from my supervisor. I'm still in disbelief. Two of the examiners passed me without any edits (one wanted to pass me with distinction). One passed me with very minor grammatical edits and no resubmission necessary.

Guys, I just can't. It's literally just starting to set in a week later. Not only did I get my PhD, my tenure promise will also come into effect starting January and it comes with a hefty pay raise.

Congratulations! I remember you posting a few weeks ago and feeling for you so hard. I am so glad you got it and can relax easily now. I hope you can now enjoy a nice stress-free Christmas!
