last year phd - supervisor not returning revised workUser: summer2021_ - 04 February 2021 13:34
Hi everyone,
I am new to the group but I have been reading these threads in the forum which are super helpful. I am a final year PhD student and will submit my thesis in less than two months or so. My two supervisors used to be really fast reading my stuff and got back to me quickly (e.g. return it within a week, sometimes less). But recently both of them have become really busy (+homeschooling during covid), I submitted all the revised chapters (based on their previous feedback) to both of them two weeks ago and am still waiting for their feedback. Since I have sent them all of the chapters, I literally have nothing to do now (I have also formatted the ToC, appendix etc during waiting), I'm feeling really stressed out because the time is flying and it would be great if they could return the chapters to me quickly so that I can address them before submitting. These past two weeks were supposed to be the busiest time with all the revision and stuff, however, I am still waiting...it's so frustrating and I don't know how to bring it up with them. Do you have any similar experiences or do you have any suggestions? Thank you. |

Don't panic. Most of supervisors take long time to review. You are lucky you haven't face that situation.
Just send them a polite reminder. All the best ☺️ |

User: rewt - 04 February 2021 16:23Quote From summer2021_: But recently both of them have become really busy (+homeschooling during covid) This is a very stressful time during lockdown especially if you have kids to look after. I understand your frustration but your supervisors are probaly just as frustrated about the situation as well. I agree with ashhh, send them a reminder email and give them a gentle nudge in the area you think is the most important. I was always told, to make reviewing your thesis earlier only send a chapter or two at a time as you write them. If they only review one chapter at a time, it gives you something to do. |
