I am looking for a tutor to help me with my PhD thesis. I am doing my PhD in Glasgow, U.K. in the area of Human Resources about the Impact of Using Social Networking (Media) on Employee Engagement in workplace. I have done draft of 2 chapters of LR, and I have received a feedback from supervisors. My research will be a qualitative using triangulation methods (semi-structured interviews and document analysis - employee comments on Social Media platform). I need help to finalize the LR chapters will the clear research questions that hope to address the knowledge gaps and develop the methodology chapter. I have found the theory - Social Exchange Theory- which very well represents the process through structured Employee Engagement model as antecedents and consequences. I have done the interviews already, and I was able securing employee chatting comments on platform as "document analysis" method. this seems like cheating to me. It is supposed to be independent unique research contribution. While it is not assumed you know everything, and it is supposed to be a learning process, you are supposed to do the work yourself . It's okay to be weak in an area, but as an independent scholar at Phd level, it is up to to you to take classes or courses to learn knowledge or skills necessary to do the work. As I said you are a trainee, so asking supervisors for input, guidance, feedback and direction is fine, in fact actively encouraged, but it is another leap altogether to pay someone to do part of the work. I understand maybe you don't have confidence in your abilities, maybe you feel overwhelmed at thought of standards required for Phd, but from your post it sounds like you do know what you are doing. You just want to make sure your LR chapters are adequate and clearly show gap in knowledge and define research question. you know what you need to do, just do it. Get feedback from your supervisors and make sure it is up to standard. If its not, you take feedback on board and go back and work on it again. Personally as someone who feel's anxious about my thesis and my ability, I do understand wanting help. But also I strongly feel that what your asking for (as it seems to me) from your post, is grossly unethical and cheapens Phd's for everyone else.

I don't know if this is cheating/fraud or not, depending on what the tutor is expected to do (obviously if they were to write part of the thesis, that would be plagiarism). Providing more general academic tutoring around the subject area would be a different matter.

However, I never heard of anyone hiring a tutor for their PhD. The main problem would be that a PhD topic tends to be very specialised, and it's unlikely many people outside the relevant research group(s) would have the expertise to be of much help -- it's very different from preparing for undergraduate exams, for example. Certainly for things like clarifying your research questions and developing your methodology, the supervisor would be the most obvious person to speak to.

For more general advice and support with the thesis writing process, universities often run (free!) workshops for final-year/writing-up students, which can be quite useful especially as they can advise on any institution-specific requirements (formatting, word count etc), which again an external tutor wouldn't necessarily know about. I wouldn't advise wasting your money like that.
