This year we’ve gathered a range of experts from around the globe to help you understand all things postgraduate, including a Doctor of biomedical science, a best-selling author, and High Commissioner of Canada!

Mark Bennett - Head of Content, FindAUniversity (Postgraduate Loans Explained - The Future of UK Masters Funding and the Value of Postgraduate Study) - Mark Bennett manages the postgraduate advice and funding materials across the popular FindAMasters & FindAPhD websites. His previous experience includes research and teaching at various universities. Postgraduate loans would be his Mastermind Subject. That or obscure eighteenth-century travelogues.

Dr Alex Conner - Senior Lecturer of Biomedical Sciences, University of Birmingham (PhD Research Proposal Writing Masterclass) - Alex is a Senior Lecturer of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Birmingham; a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology. Alex has a research group studying the structure and function of large proteins in the human brain. He has published more than 50 scientific articles and claims to teach “the easy bits of medicine before we need proper doctors.

Alex increasingly works in science communication, facilitating discussions, talking about science to people without a traditional science background and showing off on stage. He is a Media Fellow for the British Science Association, trying to bring science and the public even closer together.

Dr Paul Redmond - Director of Student Experience and Enhancement, University of Liverpool (The Value of Postgraduate Study from an Employability Perspective) - Dr. Paul Redmond is Director of Student Experience and Enhancement at the University of Liverpool and an expert on generations and the world of work. As an experienced writer and speaker, Paul has presented at numerous events and conferences around the world. In addition to writing regularly for national newspapers, he is a frequent contributor to radio and TV programmes.

Paul’s work brings him into contact with a broad range of national and international organisations. His research into the future of work and ‘Generation Y’ has attracted considerable attention among both graduate recruiters and the media. Paul is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and the author of several books, including the best-selling ‘The Graduate Careers Formula,’ and (exclusively for Helicopter Parents) ‘A Parent’s Guide to Graduate Jobs.

Kieran O'Sullivan - UK Recruitment Manager, University of Liverpool (Funding your Postgraduate Study) - Kieran is the UK Recruitment Manager at the University of Liverpool, where he is responsible for the recruitment of undergraduate and postgraduate students. Kieran has worked at the University of Liverpool for eight years where he had previously studied English and Communication Studies. Kieran advises prospective undergraduate and postgraduate students about all aspects of Higher Education, including student finance and funding.

Yasemin Cigiltepe - Lecturer in German, The German Academic Exchange Service (Study in Europe and Canada) - Yasemin started teaching German Language in 2001. She chose this profession because she enjoyed working in an international environment and conveying her love of languages to others. Before coming to the University of Sheffield, Yasemin taught German Language to American Students taking part in the USAC-programme at the University of Lüneburg. She was also a German Teacher for refugees and active for the TestDaF-Institute. As part of her studies in North-American Literature, Yasemin wrote her MA-Thesis on 'Magic Realism and Canadian West Coast Fiction'.

Yasemin has studied Slavonic Languages and Cultures, as well as Sociology, at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. She then went on to gain a qualification in Teaching German as a Second Language from the University of Bonn. During her Year Abroad at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada and as a Teaching assistant at Kent College, Canterbury, Yasemin improved her English language skills. Her other languages are Turkish, Russian, Czech and French.

Kimmo Kuortti - Admissions and International Services, University of Oulu, Finland (Study Abroad) - Kimmo Kuortti is a Solution Designer at the Admissions and International Services at the University of Oulu, Finland. He is an international education expert who has worked within the field of mobility, student marketing and recruitment as well as admissions since 1995. Kimmo is alumnus of the University of Oulu, having studied English Philology at the Faculty of Humanities, where he has also taught. He is a keen developer of international partnerships and student services, and currently is the Chair of the national working group that heads international relations in Finland.

Allison Goodings - Trade Commissioner - High Commissioner of Canada (Study in Europe and Canada) - Allison Goodings is responsible for promoting educational opportunities in Canada to students in the UK, as well as developing partnerships between UK and Canadian educational institutions.  Originally from Toronto, she has lived in the UK for 11 years.  Her previous work in the higher education sector includes Birkbeck College (University of London) and York University (Toronto). She has a Master’s degree in environmental studies, specializing in urban food security, from York University.
