What to expect on the day

A Postgrad LIVE Study fair is made up of two parts: an exhibition hall where you can talk to universities and a talks programme which runs in parallel at the same venue. You can go between the two as much as you want, and attend as many of the talks as you wish.

We will also have an "Ask Us Anything" zone which will be a dedicated area for you to ask your burning questions around funding, applying, studying and more to our postgraduate experts!

Location and timings

Our Postgrad LIVE Liverpool study fair is on Wednesday 12 February and will be held at The Guild of Students, The University of Liverpool, Liverpool, L3 5TR. The venue is located across from the University of Liverpool Hart Building and is next to the Brownlow Hill bus stop. The What Three Words for our location is ///stars.oddly.charmingly

The fair runs from 12-3pm and you can drop in at any point during this time. Please note that the PhD masterclass starts before the fair at 11am.

Talks

Our Postgrad LIVE Liverpool study fair features specialist talks to provide you with the latest PhD & Masters information and advice to help you take the next steps.

What's on?

11:00am - 12:00pm - Writing a research proposal masterclass - Whether you’re applying for an advertised project or proposing your own, the research proposal is a crucial part of your application. We’ll cover exactly what a proposal should and shouldn’t be, as well as giving you hints and tips from previous successful PhD students.

12:15pm – 1:00pm - Covering the cost of your Masters - We’ll walk you through the process of what you need to budget for, what funding sources you can tap into (including student loans, scholarships and grants) and include real-life examples of how Masters students before you have achieved it without breaking the bank!

1:15pm – 2:00pm - So you think you want to do a Masters or a PhD - Wondering if a Masters or PhD is the right next step for you? Undertaking Masters or PhD study can offer several career-related advantages, depending on your goals and the field you're entering. This session will look at the link between postgraduate study and your career plans, with tips for working out whether a postgraduate degree is for you.

2:15pm – 2:45pm - Postgrad 101: Who? What? Where? When? How? Why? - It feels like there’s a lot to consider at PG level right? Well we’re here to help with our Postgrad 101 talk. We’ll be taking a look at timescales, entry dates, when and how to apply, and what funding is available for you tap into, so you’ll walk away with a checklist of what you need to do to make your postgraduate dream a reality.

How can I register for the event?
You can register for the fair by clicking on the ‘register now’ button above. We’ll send you your ticket and all the information you’ll need on the day via email.
I’ve registered but I haven’t received a confirmation email?

How to find the venue?
The event will be held at the Guild of Students, The University of Liverpool, Liverpool, L3 5TR. The venue is located across from the University of Liverpool Hart Building.
What is the closest transport links?
The venue is next to the Brownlow Hill bus stop.
What time does the fair open?

The fair will officially open at 12pm. That is when you’ll be able to walk around the exhibition hall and chat to universities. It will finish at 3pm.

Is there any charge?
Nope! Attending Postgrad LIVE is completely FREE.
Why is there a Masterclass on before the fair opens?

This is a pre-fair talk that takes place before the exhibition hall is open.

Do I need to book onto the Masterclass?

Nope! There is no need to book onto the pre-fair Masterclass. It will be on a first come first serve basis, so arrive within plenty of time before the Masterclass is due to start.

Do I need to book any of the other talks happening throught the day?
No. All talks happening duiring PG LIVE are also on a first come first serve basis.
