I am absolutely thrilled to be a Scholarship winner! It was quite unexpected and I feel very honoured.

I’ve been searching for a PhD programme for the last six months and during this time’s role has been essential. I have spent many hours going through the website’s advertised projects, reading the information on the different university courses and searching for funding.

In time, all the information provided through (and the started making more sense to me and at this point I started receiving invitations for interviews. I was thoroughly excited when I was accepted in the PhD programme of Liverpool. I believe that this acceptance was the result of a long preparation process in which the access to information through your website was integral.

I’ve always been drawn to research, I love exploring the factors that underlie human behaviour. This PhD programme provides me the opportunity to study flavour learning from the very beginning of an infant’s life. Thus I can fully appreciate all the factors that contribute to the development of food preferences that persist throughout childhood and well into adulthood.

I believe that this PhD programme will give me the opportunity to further expand my research skills enabling me to advance to a post-doctoral position. It will expand my knowledge on Developmental Psychology and thus help me become a more efficient and better qualified professional.

PhD: PhD Security and Crime Science: Illicit Firearm Use and the Role of Firearm Procurement and Transfer Networks in England and Wales
University: University College London

It feels great, but rather unexpected to be a Scholarship winner!

My Doctoral Training Centre was advertising an open evening on so I was able to book to visit the department. I’d also previously worked with the Director and I knew he’d be the perfect person to supervise my PhD.

I worked as a social researcher for crime/ criminal justice projects before coming back to study, so I’m hoping that the PhD will enable me to specialise. My current plans are to perhaps join the civil service; however I’ve still got more than two years to decide!

Fiona Pepper

PhD: PhD in Psychosis Studies
University: Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London

It made my day when I found out that I had won the Scholarship! is a great website which helped me find the best PhD course for me. I developed an interest in neuroimaging techniques during my MSc and knew that I wanted to continue this during my PhD. I’m really enjoying studying so far. It’s tough but really worthwhile.

When I finish my PhD, I hope to take up a Post-Doc position, continuing with both research and teaching, and would like to work my way up to professorship eventually.

It’s a great honour to be chosen as a Scholarship winner, and the prize money helps to ease the financial burden of my postgraduate study. was of great help to me, as I got to know various research areas through their detailed listings.

Not only is helpful for students who look for courses to join, but they also continue to help students after they have entered research. They are a valuable source of information regarding projects going on in different universities and the funding available. I am very grateful to the services provided by the website as a student, and a researcher, and have recommended it to many other students who are interested in overseas education.

I am very excited and it’s a great privilege to be named a winner of this Scholarship. allowed me to explore the works of different professor’s from different universities in one central location.
