A chemical sensor to detect active metabolites linked to the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disorders
Dr A Hudson, Prof F Giorgini
Application Deadline: 25 April 2019
Kynurenine is an intermediate in the pathway that converts the amino acid, tryptophan, to the redox enzyme, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+/NADH) - an essential molecule of life.
Integrated compound semiconductor lab-on-chip optical biosensor
Dr F Masia, Prof W Langbein, Prof P Borri
Application Deadline: 12 May 2019
In this project, you will contribute to the design, fabrication and characterisation of the optoelectronic components of the device, and the demonstration of high sensitivity and specificity in bio-molecule sensing.
Engineering nanomaterials for intracellular delivery in regenerative medicine.
  Dr C Chiappini
Application Deadline: 16 May 2019
Informal applications are strongly encouraged by inquiring with [email protected] This position is to conduct an ERC-funded research project.
Robust analysis of lifetime decay of label free autofluorescence signatures from 2 photon microscopy
Dr S Hadjiloucas, Dr J Bowen
Applications accepted all year round
The purpose of the work is to develop novel chemometric (statistical signal processing) routines. MATLAB models of lifetime will be developed in state space and system identification routines will be adopted to de-embed the associated lifetimes of the target molecules using statistically robust criteria.
Developing Optical Manipulation and Imaging Tools for Extreme Engineering Environments
  Prof D McGloin
Applications accepted all year round
Developing Optical Manipulation and Imaging Tools for Extreme Engineering Environments. The following PhD project is available for both domestic and international students starting in early 2019 to work with Prof.
  Droplet Lasers
  Prof D McGloin
Applications accepted all year round
The following PhD project is available for both domestic and international students starting in early 2019 to work with Prof. David McGloin in a newly established laboratory at the University of Technology Sydney.
Studying Single Aerosol Nucleation using Optical Tweezers
  Prof D McGloin
