Aetiopathogenesis and genomic architecture of resistance to claw horn disruption lesions in dairy cattle
  Prof G Oikonomou
Application Deadline: 11 January 2019
Maintaining good foot health is one of the most critical challenges the dairy industry faces today. This is because poor foot health leads to reduced mobility of the animal and causes lameness.
PhD Development of machine learning algorithms for early prediction of lameness in cattle using heterogenous and irregular data
Dr J Kaler, Prof M Green
Application Deadline: 15 March 2019
Lameness is one of the most important endemic diseases present in cattle around the world in terms of both animal welfare and economic loss.
Harnessing deep learning and data science to create a research data platform of intensively monitored cattle to underpin global health grand challenges
  Prof A Dowsey
Application Deadline: 18 January 2019
The project. A growing population and climate change are stressing the availability of food worldwide. At the same time, high animal welfare and health practice is more important than ever.
Links between animal behaviour, health and welfare
  Dr SDE Held
Applications accepted all year round
An animal’s behaviour both causes and reflects changes in its health and welfare. The biological processes underlying these relationships are increasingly well understood in humans.
MRC DTP 4 Year PhD Programme: Prediction of protein specificity determining sites from population genetics
  Prof G J Barton, Dr U Zachariae
Application Deadline: 18 January 2019
This project is part of our exciting and challenging University of Dundee 4-year MRC DTP Programme in Quantitative and Interdisciplinary approaches to biomedical science.
MRC DTP 4 Year PhD Programme: Prediction of protein-protein interaction sites from population genetics data
  Prof G J Barton, Dr A Pisliakov
Application Deadline: 18 January 2019
This project is part of our exciting and challenging University of Dundee 4-year MRC DTP Programme in Quantitative and Interdisciplinary approaches to biomedical science.
Fluency and Context in Recognition Memory
Dr J Taylor, Dr D Talmi
Applications accepted all year round
This project relates to a sort of ‘memory illusion’. On a recognition memory test, increasing the perceptual fluency of a test cue increases the likelihood that the word will be endorsed as ‘familiar’, even if it hasn’t been seen in the study phase (and therefore should have been called ‘new’).
