Developing high performance thermoelectric materials for low to medium temperature range applications
Dr S Aminorroaya Yamini, Prof IM Dharmadasa, Dr A Asthana
Application Deadline: 12 April 2019
The aim of this project is to develop high performance Bi2Te3-based TE materials. Major developments on Bi2Te3 have been based on single-phase alloys, whereas our recent studies have shown higher efficiencies in multiphase TE compounds compared to the single-phase materials.
High Performance Processing of Distributed Acoustic Sensing Data: Turning Optical Fibres into Massively Parallel Microphone Arrays
  Dr A Garcia-Fernandez, Prof S Maskell
Application Deadline: 28 March 2019
Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) offers great potential to extract pertinent information from the environment close to optical fibres, turning each 50km long fibre into 5000 (or more!) acoustic microphones.
High performance miniaturized component for aerospace applications (PhD offer in H2020-MSCA-Innovative Training Network - TESLA)
  Prof Cristiano Tomassoni
Application Deadline: 28 March 2019
Space is key asset for Europe. Europe’s citizens enjoy the benefits, from jobs and economic growth, to public services, efficient communications and security.
Fully finded PhD Scholarships in the School of Earth, Atmosphere and Environment
PhD research scholarship opportunities exist in the School of Earth, Atmosphere and Environment, Monash University for, high-quality, dedicated, well-motivated and enthusiastic students.
Microstructure evolution during forging high performance Ti aerospace components
Research Group: Advanced Metallic Systems CDT
Dr J Fonseca, Prof B Wynne, Prof P Prangnell
Application Deadline: 31 March 2019
The CDT in Advanced Metallics is a partnership between the Universities of Sheffield and Manchester and the I-Form Advanced Manufacturing Centre, Dublin.
Web-scale research analytics for identifying high performance and trends: data-driven approaches to scientometrics
  Dr P Knoth
Applications accepted all year round
1 position available (supported by JISC). This topic will look into new forms of research assessment analysis based on textual data in research publications.
Centre for Doctoral Training in Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE)Industrial PhD Studentship in Electromagnetic non-destructive testing for inspecting the microstructure of high performance ferritic steels
  Prof A Peyton
Application Deadline: 31 July 2019
School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Manchester. Tenaris SA. Applications are invited for an industrial studentship in advanced non-destructive evaluation (NDE) techniques for the inspection and monitoring of microstructure on-line during pipe manufacture leading to the award of a PhD.
Accelerating molecular phylogenetic inference using high performance computing.
  Dr A Meade
Applications accepted all year round
Molecular phylogenetic inference, constructing evolutionary histories from molecular data, is an activity universal to all biological disciplines.
Sustainable Composites for Manufacturing Wind Turbine Blades
  Dr S.S Rahatekar
