Structural study of enterovirus replication in vivo
Dr P Plevka
15 March 2019
Viruses from the Enterovirus genus belong to the family Picornaviridae of human and vertebrate pathogens. Diseases caused by enteroviruses range from upper and lower respiratory tract infections to life-threatening encephalitis.
Superconductivity of YbRh2Si2, a candidate topological superconductor
Prof J Saunders, Dr L Levitin
30 January 2019
YbRh2Si2 is a canonical heavy fermion metal with a field tuned quantum critical point. In recent work we have developed transport measurements on high quality single crystal samples which show it to be a superconductor below 10 mK.
Native state and volume electron microscopy of nanoparticle-based systems
Dr N Hondow
15 February 2019
Electron microscopy is ideally suited to the nanoscale imaging and analysis of materials; the spatial resolution and availability of advanced spectroscopic techniques afford the opportunity for detailed structural and compositional investigations.
PhD in Ion-Beam Engineering of Superconducting Materials
Dr N Strickland
31 March 2019
An opportunity exists for an excellent student to undertake studies for a PhD degree on the topic of "An ion-beam engineered microstructure for high-performance superconducting films" under the supervision of Dr Nick Strickland and Dr Stuart Wimbush of the Robinson Research Institute of Victoria University of Wellington.
Ion cyclotron emission (ICE) from energetic ions in fusion plasmas
Prof S C Chapman, Prof R Dendy
15 February 2019
Research at Warwick University’s Centre for Fusion, Space and Astrophysics (CFSA) focuses on plasma physics applied to the grand challenges of fusion energy, space physics, solar physics, and astrophysics.
