This project will explore the challenges encountered during the initiating phases of major projects. This represents a significant practical and conceptual challenge and is a core feature of the UK Cabinet Office Infrastructure and Projects Authority Project X initiative (Theme B, led by Professor Lewis).
Effective collaboration among design and construction teams is an ongoing challenge in modern building construction due primarily to the increasingly complex and highly-specialised range of inputs required from architects, engineers, specialist manufacturers and installers.
The majority of freshwater habitats are small in scale, comprising ponds and low-order streams, ditches and springs. Collectively these represent the largest resource of freshwater habitats across the UK and provide a heterogeneous network of resources for a wide diversity of freshwater and terrestrial organisms.
Reference Number. KKC-2018-PhD-1. Project Summary. Advanced two-dimensional materials including MoS2, MoSe2, and h-BCN has recently gain much importance in material and photonics research owing to their capabilities of tuning their electronic bandgap hence optical absorption spectra.
Reference Number. KKC-2018-PhD-2. Project Summary. This project will focus on the design and implementation of advanced optical fibre-based sensors for environmental monitoring applications such as quality of fresh water and air.
