Eye diseases are a common cause of human disability and many of them are inherited. These include congenital as well as adult-onset conditions and diseases of ageing, and may involve abnormalities at the back of the eye or the anterior eye structures.
Infection by Marek’s Disease Virus (MDV) is followed by latency, T-cell lymphomas and reactivation. It has significant deleterious effects on chicken health and welfare, with an annual estimated loss close to $2 billion to the global poultry meat and egg production industries.
Osteoarthritis (OA) affects 9 million people in the UK and is the main reason for costly total joint replacement. Knee OA is the commonest form, but we still have much to understand about its initiation.
