Reconstructing climate and landscape change in drylands from sedimentary records (OP2216)

The basin of Shubayqa (Qa Shubayqa), today an ephemeral wetland in the eastern basalt desert of Jordan, provides a rare opportunity to reconstruct precipitation and landscape patterns throughout the Holocene in the wider Levant region east of the Dead Sea, because of its depth of sediment, a rather unique regional environmental archive.
