Managing complexity and uncertainty in the transition to net-zero energy systems
Dr C Bale, Dr K Roelich
Application Deadline: 31 January 2020

In June 2019, the UK committed to a legally-binding target to bring all greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050. This provides a hugely challenging, yet necessary goal to radically and rapidly decarbonise the UK’s energy systems.

Crusade is a neglected theme in the historiography of medieval Scotland. Despite being a key aspect of life in Latin Christendom, there has been only one monograph relating to the Scottish dimension of crusading, now 35 years old (Alan Macquarrie, Scotland and the Crusades 1095-1560 (1984)).
Architectural Atmospheres: Tools, Methods and Design Processes - what agents and processes are brought into play to make the notion of atmosphere operational in defining new tools and design methodologies
  Dr I Wieczorek, Prof F B Samuel
Applications accepted all year round

PhD Type

This PhD is open to those who wish to explore and promote the sensory dimension of the built environment and, particularly, to evaluate and critically reflect on the notion of ambiance/atmosphere (as a spatial phenomenon) and its importance for the design of lived space, and thus, its implications for architectural production.
