Monash Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences has pioneered a culture that supports true research excellence
Monash University is a bold, enterprising and research-intensive institution ranked in the top 100 universities of the world. By giving the world's brightest mind access to the world's best technologies, we create a culture that supports true research excellence.
Computed Tomography at the Quantum Limit using Phase Contrast X-ray Imaging
  Dr M Kitchen
Applications accepted all year round
The biggest problem with X-ray imaging in diagnostic medicine is the use of potentially dangerous ionizing radiation.
  Efficient and effective adaptive radiotherapy
Dr N Hardcastle, Dr A Yeo
Applications accepted all year round
Approximately 40% of cancer patients benefit from radiotherapy. Radiotherapy involves highly targeted radiation beams directed at the tumour, whilst avoiding surrounding normal tissues.
Radiomics for cancer diagnosis and patient outcome prediction
Dr J Korte, Dr N Hardcastle
Applications accepted all year round
adiomics is an emerging field that aims to extract vital information from growing collections of medical imaging and patient data.
Understanding the mechanisms of neuroendocrine tumour response to radionuclide therapy
Prof R Hicks, Assoc Prof C Cullinane
Applications accepted all year round
Neuroendocrine tumours (NET) represent a heterogeneous group of tumours that arise in specialized cells found throughout the body.
Examining the long-term effects of a concussive impact on accumulation of abnormal tau
  Dr F Corrigan
Applications accepted all year round
Applications are invited to undertake a PhD/Higher Degree by Research (HDR) to investigate how concussive impacts can lead to later neurodegenerative disease.
Coronary artery atlas using deep learning for early risk prediction of heart attacks
  Dr S Beier
Applications accepted all year round
This project will work with the largest dataset of medical images for coronary arteries surrounding the heart in more than 1200 patients.
Multi-objective design optimization of Coronary Stents
  Dr S Beier
Applications accepted all year round
Cardiovascular disease is the most common killer world-wide to date. Statistically every 4th person will die from its consequences and its most common treatment is stenting.
Sudden Coronary Artery Dissection Modelling for Medial Image detection and classification markers
  Dr S Beier
Application Deadline: 17 December 2018
Sudden Coronary Artery Dissection or SACD often causes sudden death in young females below 44 years. This non-atherosclerotic condition is caused through the split of the internal arterial wall, which narrows the effective arterial cross-section and prevents sufficient blood supply causing heart attacks.
Towards personalised coronary artery disease consideration using medical image processing and computational modelling
  Dr S Beier
Applications accepted all year round
This project is highly interdisciplinary, and will involve working with (and extending) a suite of existing software and computational models based on clinical imaging data.
