Reverse engineering cardiac valve development

The Biomechanics and Signalling Laboratory, led by Dr Julien Vermot at the Department of Bioengineering, Imperial College, London, invites applications for a PhD position, funded for 3 years at UKRI rate. Read more

Structural investigation of chromatin reprogramming and organisation in development

The genome of the fertilised zygote undergoes rapid remodelling in order to develop into a multicellular embryo. Of these events, the reprogramming of chromatin is essential to generate totipotency - the capacity to form the whole organism including all embryonic and extraembryonic cell types. Read more

IMAGinG: Regulatory interactions of Ikaros family transcription factors with active and repressive nuclear compartments

  Research Group: Lymphocyte Development
Background and Aims. The Ikaros family of sequence-specific DNA binding proteins is central to haematopoiesis, and the founding member IKZF1 is recurrently mutated in human progenitor B cell acute lymphoblastoid leukaemia 1 (B-ALL). Read more

Development of high throughput assay for screening of novel DNA replication inhibitors for therapeutic purposes

  Research Group: DNA Replication
The student will develop a fluorescence-based assay to identify novel DNA replication inhibitors for anti-cancer therapy. Inhibitors will be consequently characterised for their impact on the multi-step DNA replication process and on cancer cell growth. Read more

Novel therapeutic interventions & mechanisms of injury in blast TBI induced hearing loss

The Neurotrauma & Neuroprotection Laboratory uses a variety of in vivo and in vitro techniques to understand the pathophysiology of traumatic brain injury and to evaluate the efficacy of novel treatments for TBI such as noble gases. Recent work has shown that the noble gas xenon reduces secondary injury development and improves outcome and survival following blunt TBI in rodents. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and Cardiometabolic Risk

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disorder in women of reproductive age. Insulin resistance and endocrine abnormalities are believed to play a role in the pathogenesis of PCOS. Read more

PhD in Continuous Manufacturing and Advanced Crystallisation

The EPSRC CMAC Future Manufacturing Research Hub is offering 13 fully-funded industry-sponsored PhD studentships for research projects in the wider area of continuous manufacturing and advanced crystallisation. Read more

EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Smart Medical Imaging

The EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Smart Medical Imaging at King's College London and Imperial College London is a successful partnership of two world-class institutions to provide PhD training within an embedded hospital environment in central London. Read more
