Analysis, occurrence, fate and effects of flubendazole in moorland river catchments
  Dr P Kay
Application Deadline: 29 March 2019
Moorland areas are very important worldwide and are found, for example, in the British Isles, Russia, Canada, Scandinavia, New Zealand, Tasmania, Japan and South America (Holden et al., 2007).
Impact of Sediment Transport and Vegetation to the Reservoir Hydrodynamics within Fluvial Environment
Research Group: Centre For Sustainable Environments
Prof F Hu, Dr J Pu
Applications accepted all year round
Reservoirs and dams are popular control mechanisms for different water resources around the world. However, lately, there have been increasing incidences of reservoir failure linked to sediment transport and vegetation within its environment, that have caused massive financial and social impacts.
Marine ecology and spatial planning for changing coral reef ecosystems
  Research Group: School of Biology
  Dr M Beger
Applications accepted all year round
This is an open call for international or self-funded students who wish to develop their skill base in marine conservation science.
Flow characteristics and sediment transport in vegetated compound channels
Research Group: Centre For Sustainable Environments
  Prof Y Guo
Applications accepted all year round
The project is to examine the effect of vegetations on the open channel/river flow and sediment transport. It is well known that plants can reduce flow velocity, and thus sediment transport by creating additional flow resistance, leading to the increase of the river flooding.

Understanding cancer using novel Affimer binding proteins
Research Group: Astbury Centre for Structural Molecular Biology
  Dr D Tomlinson
Applications accepted all year round
The specificity of protein-protein interactions is key to the successful execution of virtually every biological process yet molecular biology tools to block these interactions are lacking.
