Welcome to the Institute of Marine Sciences in Barcelona.

The Institute belongs to the area of ​​the Natural Resources Council of Scientific Research (CSIC) and is the largest marine research center in Spain and one of the largest in the Mediterranean region. It is dedicated entirely to the study of oceans and seas.
His research seeks to deepen and advance scientific knowledge and find out what is the role of oceans in the world context. Long experience and a team of more than 200 specialists in different aspects of oceanographic research (physics, chemistry, geology and biology), give an overview of the marine ecosystem and ability to assess the changes and human impact on the environment and find solutions.

Their researchers participate in projects of national and international oceanographic and in almost all seas and oceans of the world.
